A great kid-friendly event takes place on Saturday August 22, 2015!

Quinte Heritage Festival takes place on August 22, 2015 at the Murray Canal, north east end, Highway 33 and 12 O'Clock Point Road.

The Historic Murray Canal District (HMCD) Quinte Heritage Celebration is from 10:00AM to 3:30PM, on August 22, 2015. The event continues our work to elevate the heritage significance of the Murray Canal. The name of the event commemorates the Canal’s connection to the wider region.

The celebration will take place at the northeast end of the Canal. It will include :

  • A speech by Sir John A. Macdonald;
  • Greetings from our elected officials;
  • A kid’s play area with games, a Jumpy Castle, and Parka, the Parks Canada mascot;
  • Croquet demonstration courtesy of the Brighton Lawn and Croquet Club;
  • Dragon boat rides and demonstrations courtesy of the Brighton Dragon Boat club; and
  • Live music, courtesy of the Brighton Arts Council.
  • Light refreshments

Noted historical re-enactors, Brian and Renee Porter will appear as Sir John A. and Lady Agnes, bringing Macdonald’s involvement with the Quinte region and the canal district to life.

Macdonald Project of Prince Edward County Chair, David Warrick will introduce Sir John.
